Why people delete most apps in the first week

Retention isn't a growth hack. It's what happens when an app respects your time from the first screen.

Why people delete most apps in the first week

People delete apps that waste their time. They keep apps that make one task noticeably easier — check something, track something, decide something, done.

That starts with onboarding. If onboarding needs a tutorial to explain the product, the product isn't simple enough yet.

Every screen should earn its place. If a screen only exists because it was on the original sitemap, it's a candidate to cut before launch.

Small details build trust: transitions that don't stutter, loading states that don't feel stuck, text that's readable in direct sunlight and in the dark.

The difference between an app someone tries once and an app someone uses daily is usually in these small decisions, not in a longer feature list.
